7 Days Cairo, Alexandria, and White Desert Family Vacation

When you arrive at Cairo International Airport on day one, one of our team members will meet you right away. Then we will set up a private ride in an air-conditioned car to take you to your hotel in Cairo.

At the hotel, we will guide you through the check-in process. After that, we will go over your travel plan with you again and adjust it if needed.

You will have breakfast at your hotel on the morning of your second day. After that, a driver will collect you in a private car. Then your Cairo day tours will begin.

First, you will head toward the area near the Great Pyramids. Along the way, you can look for the Great Sphinx. You will also see King Khufu's Valley Temple. The stop will include the big pyramids of Khufu, Khafra, and Mankawra.

Next, you will travel to Dahshour with your guide. You will walk through the area and visit the main sights there. After that, you will stop for lunch at a nearby restaurant.

Later, you will continue on to Memphis. When the day ends, you will be driven back to your hotel.

A guide will meet you in the hotel lobby at about 6:30 a.m. for this Alexandria day tour. We will head from Cairo to Alexandria, one of Egypt’s key cities on the Mediterranean.

First, we will stop at the Qaitbey Citadel. It was built in the 15th century and stands near the harbor area. Nearby, you can also see parts of the old lighthouse ruins. The place where the lighthouse once stood is still visible in fragments.

Next, we will go to the Kom el Shogafa catacombs. This is the biggest Roman burial site in the area, and it has three levels cut into the rock. Many consider it a major archaeological location from the first century. Inside the underground rooms, there are over 300 mummies. You will also notice Greco-Roman art themes.

For lunch, we will eat at a seafood restaurant. You can sample some of the best known dishes from Egypt. After that, you will visit the Pompey Column and the Serapeus Temple ruins. You can pause and rest at Pompey Pillar before moving on.

Some historians say Pompey the Great was killed in a fight and later laid to rest here.

Near the end of the day, we will go to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. It is one of the most important cultural centers in the eastern Mediterranean. In the late afternoon, we will bring you back to your hotel in Cairo.

After breakfast, you will ride to the Egyptian Civilization National Museum. It shows how wide and varied Egyptian culture has been over time. Your guide will meet you at your hotel and handle the trip.

After lunch, you will head to Coptic Cairo by car.  

First, you will see the St. Sergius and Hanging Churches. These churches sit over the crypt linked to St. Joseph the Carpenter, Jesus Christ, and his mother. They spent more than three months there.  

Next, you will visit the Ben Ezra Synagogue. It was built before the ninth century. Long ago, it was used as a Coptic church. It will be the last place on your list.  

When your trip ends, we will take you back to your hotel.

You will begin the White Desert Tour in Cairo on day five. This day also covers a stop at the Bahariya Oasis. Most of our Cairo outings can start at different times and from different pick up points. From Cairo to the oasis, the ride is about four hours in an air cooled vehicle.

Next, you will visit the Golden Mummies Museum. The mummies were found with remains tied to an Alexander the Great Temple site. They were located in large Greco Roman style cemeteries. You can also see tombs linked to people of rank from the 26th dynasty. After that, you will go to the Temple of Muftella. It was built in honor of the god Bis. Later, lunch will be served at a restaurant designed to feel like an oasis. You will have Egyptian food, and the desert safari will feel like a true Egypt experience.

After lunch, you will head toward the White Desert for a special White Desert Safari. On the route back, you will pass through the Valley of El Haize. This small green area sits in the desert and it comes before the black desert. It is found to the south of the oasis. If there is time, you may stop for a short walk to a nearby water spring.

Then you will visit the Valley of Agabat. You will get to try sandboarding on wide dunes. You will also see petrified wood shapes. After that, there is Crystal Mountain, where you can view old quartz crystal features. While your local guides set up your lunch, you will camp in the White Desert. Many guests catch a strong sunset view from the camp. Spend the night there and look up at the stars.

In the evening, away from the bigger town smog, you will watch the sky and enjoy the constellations. When morning comes, the sunrise over the White Desert will be the nicest sight of the day.

Day six starts with breakfast while you look out over the White Desert. Then you keep going to the pale limestone shapes nearby. You will see the chicken form, the rock that looks like a sphinx, the whale-like rock, and the hill that resembles a rabbit. You will also pause to take photos of marks left in the sand and of the springs close to the area. Later, you will ride to Cairo. On the way you pass through the Black Desert, where you can spot tall hills and ranges made of small dark volcanic stones.

Before we begin the trip, we stop in Bahariya. There you can walk among the fruit plots, view the big sandy dunes, visit the salt lake, and check out the other nearby spots.

On the last day, your tour guide will meet you in the hotel lobby at the agreed time. From there, you will ride to the Cairo airport and head out of Egypt. You will leave with new sights, strong photos, and lasting memories.
