There, you will see the Catacombs of Kom El-Shoqafa, from the Roman era, dated to the late period or the early part of the second century. The setting is striking, and it feels full of adventure.
Next, you will visit the Qaitbay Citadel. It was built close to the site of the old Lighthouse of Alexandria. From there, you can enjoy views of the sea since the area faces the Mediterranean. After that, you will go to the Alexandria Bibliotheca. You will then have lunch, and later we will take you back to Cairo.
In the morning, your guide will pick you up and take you to the Egyptian Civilization National Museum. The museum shows many sides of Egyptian life across different periods. After that, you will have lunch. Then you will head to Coptic Cairo.
In Coptic Cairo, you will see the Hanging Church. You will also visit the church of St Sergius. The church sits on the crypt where Jesus Christ and his mother stayed for about three months. St Joseph the carpenter was with them. Next, you will visit the Ben Ezra Synagogue. It was built before the 9th century. Later, it became a Jewish synagogue after serving as a Coptic Church for many years.
When your tour ends, we will take you back to your hotel.
Start on day five of your White Desert trip from Cairo. This day also comes with the Bahariya Oasis tour. We pick you up from a convenient place in Cairo, the way it usually works on our Cairo day trips. You will ride in an air-conditioned vehicle. The drive to Bahariya Oasis takes about four hours.
At Bahariya Oasis, you will visit the Museum of Golden Mummies. The mummies were found in large burial areas. They date to the Greco Roman time. While you are there, you will also hear about ruins linked to a temple for Alexander the Great.
Next, you will see the Tombs of the Nobles. These are tombs from the rulers of the area during the 26th dynasty. After that, you will tour the Temple of Muftella. This place is tied to the god Bis. It was built by ancient Egyptian pharaohs.
After the tours, you will stop for lunch at an oasis-style restaurant. The meal is part of the experience, and it feels different from city food.
Then the trip continues to the White Desert. You will do a White Desert safari with a local feel. On the way, you will pass the Valley of El Haize, to the south of the oasis. You may also have a chance to visit a water spring there, if time allows. It is a green area in the desert. It sits before the Black Desert.
You will also stop at Crystal Mountain to see quartz crystal shapes from long ago. Later, you will visit the Valley of Agabat. You will see striking stone forms and petrified wood. After that, you will try sandboarding as you slide down high sand dunes.
You will camp in the White Desert for the night. You can watch the sunset from a calm open spot. Local guides will prepare your dinner while you relax. Then you will transfer back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
In the night, you will watch the stars far from city smoke. On the next morning, you will wake up to sunrise in the White Desert.
On the sixth day, breakfast is served in the White Desert. You will eat there with a calm, cool setting. After that, you will continue your Cairo Day Tours. Along the way, you can view the desert scenes, look at nearby springs, and take pictures of the pale limestone. You may see the “chicken” rock, the stone that looks like the sphinx, the whale shape in the rock, and the hill that resembles a rabbit.
Next, you will be moved toward Cairo. You will pass through the Black Desert on the route. This part has rocky hills and many small dark volcanic stones.
Before you go back to Cairo, we stop in Bahariya. We visit the salt lake and then look around the fruit gardens. After that, you will see the sand dunes. Then you will drive for about four hours back to your hotel in Cairo.
