Cairo and Alexandria Tour During Easter

When you land in Egypt, your New Travel Dynamics guide will meet you at Cairo International Airport. He will hold a card with your name on it. Next, you will be taken to your hotel in a clean, air-conditioned car.

At the hotel, you will get a welcome drink. Our staff will help you with check-in. Then you will go over the Egypt Easter Tours plan. You will confirm the start time for each day’s trip.

You will stay overnight in Cairo.

Have a tasty breakfast at your hotel in Cairo, then meet your guide to begin the day.

Next, you will head to the Giza plateau. You will see the Great Pyramid of King Cheops. It is the only survivor from the seven wonders of the ancient world, and it has stood since around 2500 B.C. You will also visit the pyramid of Chephren, built during the 4th dynasty by King Chephren, who was the son of Cheops. After that, you will visit the pyramid of Mycerinus and the Valley Temple.

Your time at the Giza pyramids includes a guided walk. You will view all the pyramids in one area, take photos, and collect lasting memories.

Later, you will stop for lunch at a local restaurant on the way to Saqqara. Then you will visit the Stepped Pyramid Complex. It was made for the burial of King Djoser, dated between 2717 B.C and 2737 B.C, with the help of his minister Imhotep. The site is often noted as the first large stone building in history. You will also see the pyramid of Teti and the nobles’ tombs, so you can get a sense of everyday life in ancient Egypt.

After that, you will travel to Memphis. Memphis was founded about 3,200 years ago by King Narmer. It served as the capital during the Old Kingdom, and it still matters today. You will visit an open-air museum with well known monuments, including two statues of King Ramses II. You will also see the alabaster Sphinx of Memphis.

Your representative will explain this area in a clear way. They will also help you take photos so you can keep this moment.

Return to your hotel in Cairo for an overnight stay.

Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast at your hotel in Cairo, you will go out with your professional tour guide to see the following stops.

First, visit the Grand Egyptian Museum, known as GEM. It holds more than 120,000 items. You will also see large statues and fine objects linked to King Tutankhamun.

Next, transfer to the Citadel of Saladin. You will also stop at the Mohamed Ali Alabaster Mosque.

The Citadel of Saladin was built by Sultan Saladin, a well known Islamic leader.

The Alabaster Mosque was built by King Mohamed Ali about 200 years ago, during the time of Turkish rule in Egypt.

After that, continue with Coptic Cairo. You will visit the ancient Roman fortress of Babylon. You will also see the Hanging Church, which sits above older walls. Then you will visit the Church of St Sergius. Inside is a crypt where the Holy Family stayed for about three months. You will also see the spring that provided water.

Then we go to Ben Ezra Synagogue. It is said to be the place where the pharaoh’s palace once stood. It is also connected to the basket of Moses, which was found after he was taken from the Nile.

Then continue through Islamic Cairo. You will walk along the walls and gates of this medieval area. You will also explore old lanes that date back to the 10th century.

Near the end, you will stop for tea at Fishawy, one of the oldest cafes in Khan El Khalili, Cairo’s old bazaar.

Return to the hotel. Overnight in Cairo.

Meet your tour guide after having breakfast at the hotel to start your Cairo day trip to Alexandria from Cairo, the shining pearl of the Mediterranean and the largest city in Egypt. The city is named after its founder, the leader Alexander the Great who conquered Egypt in 332 B.C.

Your Egyptologist guide will accompany you to Alexandria in a modern car for about 2 hours of driving and we will stop for a break on the way, where you can rest and drink something or even stretch your legs.

First you will visit Pompey’s Pillar, the remaining pillar from the Roman temple known anciently as the Serapeum then you will move to The Citadel of Qaitbay built by the Mamluk rulers to fortify the Mediterranean seacoast against the Ottomans on the same spot where Alexandria’s ancient lighthouse once stood one of the seven wonders of the ancient world that no longer exist. After that you will visit the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, the Roman cemetery in Egypt consists of three layers of tombs and chambers cut out of the rock under the ground and the beautifully decorated burial of a rich Romanised Egyptian family.

You will also be surprised by the Bibliotheca of Alexandria. It was not an important ancient library but also the Centre of learning and scientific research in the ancient world. It was a destination for scholars from over the Mediterranean and beyond comprising 8 million books. The new Bibliotheca is the important modern project in Alexandria built adorning the sea boulevard like the sun of knowledge is rising upon the Mediterranean from Alexandria.

You will be transferred to see the church of St. Mark, one of the churches in Africa and to see the old downtown of Alexandria, where you can enjoy walking through the old city centre.

Take a walk at the markets where everything and anything is sold including traditional Egyptian sweets and treats. The architecture locally has baroque-style designs and Italian and French-style properties.

We will take you to pass through the market area in Mansheya and see the traditional ladies markets (zan'et elsetat) with very thin and narrow streets. The gold market also exists here where everyone buys their wedding and engagement jewellery.

The car will then take you to visit the biggest mosque in the city the Abbo Elabbas Mosque and the strangest sight outside it an old funfair where children play on very antique funfair rides and eat candy floss. The opposite is the corniche and the old harbor where you can see the fishing boats, men fishing and traditional fishermen making nets. The photos taken here are amazing.

Finally enjoy your seafood lunch in a quality local restaurant. After that you will be transferred back to Cairo. You will have a break, on the way.
