8 Day 7 Nights Sonesta Amirat Dahabiya Nile Cruise
Description
Launched as a high-end alternative to standard cruises, the Sonesta Amirat is all about space and privacy. Since 2009, this boat has been the go-to for families and small groups who want to see Egypt without the crowds.
Inside, you get the best of both worlds: the charm of a traditional wooden boat mixed with modern tech. Every cabin and suite comes with full climate control, plasma TVs, and mini-bars. If you want the ultimate experience, the suites have their own private terraces—perfect for a morning coffee while the Nile scenery drifts by.
When you aren’t exploring sites like the Valley of the Kings or Philae Temple with our expert guides, you’ll probably be on the sundeck. We’ve kept the lounge stylish but comfortable, and the open-air oriental Jacuzzi is the best spot on the boat to unwind after a day of walking through history. This is the Nile, but on your own terms.
Itinerary
After checking in, take a moment to settle into your cabin and explore the boat. Today is all about slowing down. You’ll enjoy your first lunch and dinner on deck while the boat moors quietly along the riverbanks in Aswan.
We’ll head out to see the Aswan High Dam before taking a boat to the island Temple of Philae. It’s one of the most atmospheric sites in Egypt. By midday, we set sail toward Kom Ombo. Watch the riverbanks change as we drift to our overnight mooring spot nearby.
After a morning sail, we’ll visit Kom Ombo Temple, uniquely shared by two gods. Once back on the Dahabiya, we continue sailing away from the towns. Tonight is special we’ll moor beside a remote Nile island for a quiet evening under the stars.
We reach Edfu this morning to see the massive Temple of Horus. It’s incredibly well-preserved, giving you a real sense of ancient life. The rest of the day is spent sailing toward the Esna lock, eventually docking at another peaceful island.
Today is for you. No crowds and no schedules. Enjoy breakfast on the sundeck as we pass through the Esna lock. It’s the perfect time to grab a book, soak in the Jacuzzi, or just watch the Egyptian countryside go by. We’ll spend the night docked by a scenic island.
We arrive in Luxor today to visit the staggering Karnak Temple complex. Walking through the Hall of Columns is an experience you won't forget. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the imposing Luxor Temple before settling in for our first night moored in the city.
Today we cross to the West Bank to explore the famous royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens. We’ll also visit the mortuary temple of Medinet Habu and the giant Colossi of Memnon. It’s a full day of history before our final night on the boat.
Enjoy your final breakfast on the sundeck. It’s time to say goodbye to the crew and disembark in Luxor, taking a week’s worth of incredible memories with you.
