Cairo & Luxor Christmas and New Year Holiday

As soon as you arrive in magical Egypt, our New Travel Dynamics staff member will meet you at Cairo airport. He will guide you through your passport steps and handle your luggage identification and carry-on. Then you will be taken to your 5-star hotel in a private, air-conditioned car. After that, you can check in.

Dinner time  
That night, your Christmas tour in Egypt starts with a dinner cruise on the Nile. While you enjoy the ride, you can relax and watch a bright belly dance act. There is also a folklore band, plus the Tannoura spin, which fits the whirling dervishes style often seen in Egypt.

Overnight  
Later, you will be brought back to your hotel for the night.

Once you finish breakfast, you will start your five day Christmas break in Egypt. Get ready to see the most famous sites in this sacred land. Your trip begins with:

Giza Pyramids Complex  
The Giza Pyramids complex is an old landmark. It has been standing since around 2600 BC. It brings together some of the biggest archaeological monuments ever found.

The Great Pyramid  
The Great Pyramid of Khufu is often called a wonder of ancient Egypt. It was built around 2570 BC. It served as the tomb of Pharaoh Khufu, whose dates are 2609 BC to 2584 BC. The work is said to have taken 15 years. It also points to about 400,000 workers and around 2.3 million limestone blocks. The result was a height of 138.5 meters, which is 454.4 ft. Inside, there are areas such as the King’s chamber, the Queen’s chamber, the big void, the grand hall, and more.

The Great Sphinx  
The Great Sphinx guards the Giza area. It was made in the image of Pharaoh Khafre, dated 2558 to 2532 BC. The goal was to protect the great statues and monuments of the site. The Sphinx is about 73 meters long, or 240 ft. It is about 19 meters wide, or 62 ft. Its height is near 20 meters, or 66 ft. It has the body of a prehistoric lion and the face of Khafre.

Valley Temple  
The Valley Temple is linked with rituals of cleansing and the idea of lasting life. It belongs to the 4th dynasty. It also survived over time. One tradition connected to it is the opening of the mouth ceremony, meant to reach the heavens and join the gods.

Head to a local restaurant in Cairo for lunch. After that, you will visit more places.

Overnight  
At the end of the day, we drive you back to your hotel in Cairo for your overnight stay.

After breakfast and check out, you will head into Cairo and keep your Christmas trip going with your guide. Today you will see the city’s main sights. We begin with:

The Egyptian Museum  
This museum is in central Cairo. It has two floors and holds rare items and large monuments. Many pieces here are over 5000 years old.

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization  
The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is a major stop for anyone who wants to learn about ancient Egypt. It shows a wide range of historical and cultural displays. The museum includes many artifacts, more than 50,000 in total. You can also visit the hall of mummies, with mummies of 28 kings and queens.

Al Muizz Street  
Al Muizz Street shines with history. It was built during the Fatimid period in the 10th century. Over time, it became a key spot for trade. Along the street you will find old homes, museums, and cafes. You can also see the style of the area and its famous architecture.

Khan El Khalili Bazaar  
Khan El Khalili Bazaar is one of Cairo’s best known market areas. It was formed between 1382 and 1389 AD. The market grew into a busy commercial place under the Mamluk rulers. Here you will meet skilled artisans and traders. You will also see many items and goods.

Overnight  
At the end of the day, we will take you to Cairo airport for your flight to Luxor. When you arrive, our representative will meet you and help you check in to your 5*hotel. for the overnight.

On Day Four, you will start early with breakfast at your hotel. After that, you will check out and meet your private tour guide. Then you will continue the second part of your 5 days Egypt Christmas holiday by visiting the places listed below.

Valley of the Kings  
This valley was used for burial and for the journey to the afterlife. It became a key site for many royal tombs from Egypt’s New Kingdom period, dated 1570 to 1070 BC. In 1979, UNESCO named it a World Heritage Site.  
Inside, there are 63 tombs. Many hold artifacts, wall decorations, and the remains of pharaohs. You can also see tombs connected to Rameses I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, IX, and X. Other names include Amenhotep I and Hatshepsut. The famous boy-king Tutankhamun is also part of this story.

Hatshepsut Temple  
The Hatshepsut temple was built to honor Amun. It is said to have been started in 1479 BC, with the aim of keeping Queen Hatshepsut’s legacy alive. Hatshepsut lived from 1508 to 1458 BC. The temple also stands out as one of the largest projects of ancient Egyptian architecture.

Colossi of Memnon  
These monuments were created around 1350 BC. Pharaoh Amenhotep III ordered them to be carved, and they were placed in a seated position. Each statue is about 18 m tall, which is 60 ft, and it weighs around 720 tons.  
Later on, they were repaired and adjusted more than once. This was especially true during the Ptolemaic period after earthquakes. People also connected the site with a vocal sound at times, linked to Eos, the dawn goddess.

Lunch Time  
Lunch will be served on an island. First, your tour includes a boat trip on the Nile. After the boat ride, you will move on to the next visit.

Karnak Temples  
Karnak is one of the largest temple areas ever built. It became the main religious and political hub of Thebes from about 2000 BC to around 30 BC. Today, it is also among the most visited historic places in Egypt. Visitors see major works like the Hypostyle hall, several courtyards, and the Avenue of Sphinxes.  

Overnight  
In the evening, we will take you to Luxor airport. Then you will board your flight back to Cairo. You will have time to rest overnight.

After breakfast at the hotel, your representative will take you to the airport. They will help you with the final departure steps. This ends your 5 days Egypt Christmas trip.
