Itinerary

Day 1:
Day Tour to Saqqara Necropolis from Cairo

You will be greeted by your accredited Egyptologist in the hotel lobby to kick off one of these remarkable trips from Cairo… to enjoy a magnificent day tour to the Saqqara Necropolis. Saqqara Necropolis is around 30 KMs, north of Cairo, so it feels like a smooth little ride from the city. the first pyramid ever discovered in history belongs to one of the most powerful kings of ancient Egypt, Djoser, who is known as the founder of the Step Pyramid.

The striking pyramid, with its mysteries that are still being unearthed until now, you’ll have the chance to enter one of the pyramids in Saqqara, and it won’t ask for any additional fees. This includes the Pyramid of King Teti or the Pyramid of Unas, the last king of the 5th dynasty in the Old Kingdom, both are open to visitors. From there, you can also explore some of the well preserved Tombs of the Nobles in Saqqara, like the tomb of Kagemini, who was the son in law of King Teti and the vizier of justice.

You will notice the different phases of everyday life scenes in ancient Egypt with all its activities, carved and inscribed, like collecting of plants, fishing trapping and even animal blessing. These are painted with vivid colors inside the walls, and also in the funeral chambers of these rock-cut tombs.

Then, explore the museum of Imhotep. It’s one of those places with several halls, holding more than 500 rare artifacts that were extracted from the Saqqara archaeological site. The exhibition includes a model of the Zoser funerary collection, and one of the museum halls is made like a complete cemetery, with a mummy, a wooden coffin, and a number of pottery and… pasteurized pots, yes.
