First, you will head to one of the most recognizable structures in Islamic Cairo and also one of the most impressive defensive fortresses from the Middle Ages, the Citadel of Sultan Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi (Saladin). Its advantageous position on top of the Muqattam Hills gave it a strong defensive stance and clear, unhindered views of Cairo, something it still offers even today.
After that you will visit the national museum, The NMEC is a true first, for Egypt and the Arab region. It highlights the continuity and steadiness of Egyptian civilization, as seen through its tangible and intangible heritage, and it presents the whole spectrum of its richness and diversity through the ages, from prehistoric times up to the present day. The royal mummies, which are part of the museum’s exceptional collection, are now on display in a new interactive setup that uses advanced technology from the twenty-first century. It’s sort of like a peek behind their wrappings, to reveal their secrets and also to explain the rituals and religious beliefs tied to mummification in ancient Egypt.
Then you will have your dinner and afterwards you will take a felucca ride on the Nile, to feel the Nile in Cairo up close. Finally, the tour leader will bring you back again to your hotel in Cairo.
