Itinerary

Day :

We will meet you in the morning and start your Coptic Cairo day tour. A guide from our team will stay with you the whole time. You will see key Coptic places in Old Cairo, along with other sites that many visitors find hard to forget.

First stop: The Hanging Church.
This church is also called the Suspended Church. It earned the name “The Hanging Church” because it was built at the southern gate of the Roman Fortress. The building stands out in a big way. The roof is shaped like the ark of Noah. The Coptic Patriarch used it as a home from the 7th century until the 13th century.

Next: Ben Ezra Synagogue.
This synagogue goes back to the 9th century. It was placed inside what was once the shell of a Christian church from the 4th century. Many people link this site to the time when the prophet Jeremiah gathered the Jews after the Jerusalem Temple was destroyed. The destruction is often tied to Nebuchadnezzar in the 6th century. Abraham Ben Ezra was part of a restoration in the 12th century. After that, the place became known for the stories, secrets, and mysteries connected to the North African Jewish community from the 11th century through the 13th.

Lunch.
After that, we will take you to a local restaurant. You will enjoy your lunch there. Then your tour continues to the next site.

Last stop: Abu Serga Church.
This church is thought to be built on the spot where the Holy family rested. That includes Mary, Jesus Christ, and Joseph, after they finished their time in Egypt. The church has major historical value. Many Coptic Church patriarchs are linked with it, and they were raised there.

Virgin Mary Church

Virgin Mary Church is a Coptic church in Haret Zuweila. Locals say it is the oldest one in that area.

Many sources place its construction in the 10th century. Other records inside the church point to the 12th century. Those notes mention the consecration of the New Cairo Bishop.

This church also served as the home base for the Orthodox Pope of Alexandria. That role is said to run from 1400 AD until 1520 AD.

After that, we will take you back to your hotel in Cairo or Giza. We will use one of our private A.C vehicles. This will end your day tour to the main Coptic sites in Cairo.
