Itinerary

Day 1:
Cairo to the white desert

Pickup time: your tour guide and driver will grab you at 07:00 from your accommodation in Cairo or Giza, then take you toward Bahariya Oasis, which is set roughly 350 kilometers east of the city. From there this trip is about 4 hours, give or take. After you arrive you’ll take your 4x4 Jeep off to the Black Desert, it’s around 30 miles south of Bahariya and it has a bunch of dunes with dark tops, really striking in daylight.

At the oasis area near El Haize, lunch will be served, kinda relaxed and warm. Then you continue driving to the Valley of Agabat, which sits deep inside the White Desert. And honestly, to really feel the place, you have to be there. The whole area was once submerged in water millions of years ago, and over time, rare chalk-white pebbles turned into a lookalike of the moon’s surface. Rock shapes seem to soften, like they’re letting go, as the quiet settles in, while the sky shifts from pink, to the most intense blazing orange.

You’ll end up thinking nothing has ever tasted as good as chicken, rice, and vegetables, especially when you’re sitting near a tiny fire. Later, watching the White Desert stars from your camp at night will stay with you, it’s one of those unforgettable moments.

Day 2:
Bahariya Oasis tour

Breakfast will be enjoyed out in the desert before you actually travel to Bahariya Oasis. You’ll stop at Crystal Mountain, which is sometimes called Gebel al-Izzaz locally on the way back , and honestly it’s pretty worth it. The quartzite crystals making up the hill (you can notice them on the right) are what earns it the nickname “the Jewel of the Desert'' , and they’re also the reason for that stunning look when the sun hits it just right. This natural feature was found kind of by chance a few decades ago. Then, there’s Bahariya Oasis, Bir Sigam, a hot spring that can help people with rheumatism, so you can soak in the heat there. Finally, you drive back to your accommodation in Bahariya and spend the night .

Day 3:
Tour to Fayoum Oasis & Wadi Al Rian

After breakfast, you’ll get picked up by our tour guide from the Bahariya hotel, and then we drive to Fayoum city by a private, air-conditioned car. On the way, as you see the city slowly give way to orchards and lush fields, it really feels like the landscape is changing right in front of you, almost seamlessly. There you can discover some of the stunning species that live right on the edge of this saltwater lake, including flamingos, ibis, and black-necked grebes. Later, visit the neighborhood museum, where you’ll see breathtaking examples of Fayoum’s famous mummy portraits, plus cloth panel paintings with a clear Greco-Roman style. While touring the museum with your guide, you’ll also learn more about the history and culture of the area, and don’t miss the amazing collection of statues from nearby ancient sites, it’s something you’ll remember.

Before going to Wadi El-Rayan to witness the artificial waterfalls out in the desert, take note—these are artificial waterfalls made with surplus agricultural water. They’re kind of a surprise , really. Then, in case the Wadi Rayan waterfalls are closed for any unforeseen circumstances, we’ll arrange an alternate visit to the Fayoum water wheels. After that, stop at a nearby restaurant for a lunchtime meal prepared in the style of Egypt. Finally, you’ll embark on a scenic felucca trip, a wooden sailing vessel with a sophisticated gaff-rigged sail. Then return transport back to your Cairo hotel, and that’s how your Egypt trip ends.
