Itinerary

Day 1:
Pyramids & Grand Egyptian Museum Tour

On this private day trip, you’ll get to see the treasures of ancient Egypt, sort of up close. Your tour guide will come and grab you from the hotel lobby, then they’ll take you to the new Grand Egyptian Museum and also the Sphinx, plus the Pyramids. One of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Giza Pyramids, should be your very first stop. Take in those jaw dropping views of the Cheops, Chephren, and Mycinerus Pyramids, it’s really something. After that, pause a moment to snap photos with the stunning Great Sphinx . You can head to the Great Pyramid on your own time, and yes, at your own expense. Next, you’ll stop by a nearby restaurant, so you can try some Egyptian cuisine, and maybe linger a bit if you want.

When you’re done with that, you’ll visit the new Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). Inside, there are more than 250,000 objects , collected from over 5,000 years of history , in these huge, well laid-out exhibitions. Afterward, at your own expense, you may also wander around King Tutankhamun’s chamber, which is packed with colourful jewels and gold, if that’s your thing. Those beautiful artefacts were stored in the King’s tomb for about 3,500 years until they were uncovered in 1920, during an excavation , not long after, in a very historic way.

To finish up, you’ll be driven to the Khan el-Khalili Bazaar, where you can soak up the atmosphere of a neighborhood market in the historic district. Browse this ancient souk (market) , and check the broad variety of locally made jewellery, antiques, and souvenirs that you can buy. Once you’ve had enough of Egypt’s wonders, the trip ends with a ride back to your hotel, simple.

Day 2:
Desert and Bahariya Oasis Day Trip

Early in the morning , we sort of drove our van the 340 kilometres from Cairo to the Oasis Bahariya.

The closest oasis to Cairo is Bahariya, which is known for its 398 mineral and sulphur springs , some of which show temperatures up to 45 degrees , and they’re famous for therapeutic properties. Bahariya sits between black hills made of ferruginous quartzite and dolerite , and then you’ll arrive at Bawiti , the oasis hillside capital. Lunch will be served at your CAMP. After lunch, you’ll start your trip to the Black Desert, which is close to Bahariya Oasis, because iron in the desert is one of the main reasons those rocks look black.

Then we drive to the small Bedouin settlement of El Hez, after exploring Gabal el Marsos (Divided Mountain) on foot. You’ll stop at Crystal Mountain and Agabat el Sharkia, El Santa tree , then travel about 160 km, on/off road, to the White Desert. The White Desert is remembered for its chalky, cream colored ground, and for wind carved mushroom shaped formations that somehow resemble human and animal features. You can also take in the pretty desert sunset today, while we move through the White Desert to our hotel in the Bahariya Oasis for supper and a short rest , before we close the programme with a ride back to Cairo.

Day 3:
Cairo to Alexandria

Pickup from your accommodation in Cairo or Giza for that 220 km ride down to Alexandria. We’ll reach Alexandria around 10 am so you can start your day trip, first stopping at the Roman Theater, kind of a theatre with marble seats for up to 800 people , plus galleries and a slice of mosaic flooring, and even a pleasure garden, all kinda framed by Roman Villas & baths.

After this, you’ll head to Kom El-Catacomb, Shoqafa’s a three-level burial site, and it also includes the Triclinium, where relatives once reclined on stone benches to feast with the deceased. Inside there are sculptures of Sobec and Anubis in Roman armour, dated back to the second century.

Then, later on , you’ll have time for a relaxed walk along the Corniche at El Mursi Abu Elabas, then Qaytbay Citadel, and of course the Alexandria Library.

At the end of the excursion, you’ll be transferred back to Cairo. You should be back in Cairo at about 9:00 p.m.

Between the stops, lunch is provided at a nearby restaurant, but drinks are not included.

Day 4:
Final Departure

After breakfast you sort of check out of your Cairo hotel , and then our tour leader picks you up kinda straight away, to escort you toward the international Cairo airport so you can return home . It is all pretty smooth, you just follow along , and that’s it .
