Luxury Travel to Egypt: Cairo & Nebyt Dahabiya

Welcome to the mysterious lands of Egypt, where the Pharaohs ruled for thousands of years, straight. Once you arrive at the upscale boutique hotel, Le Riad Hotel de Charme Cairo, it’s one of Cairo’s little treasures tucked deep in Old Islamic Cairo. After you have a delicious , wholesome Egyptian breakfast, your personal guide will sorta take you over to the Giza Plateau, and from there you’ll begin your journey by taking in one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Great Pyramids of Giza. You can walk around the Plateau slowly, and then go see the famous Sphinx, as well as the Valley Temple. When you’re finished with the pyramids, you’ll be invited to have lunch at a real Egyptian restaurant, after which you’ll travel toward the Sakkara district. There, you will tour the Sakkara Complex, and also the very first pyramid ever built, the Djoser Pyramid .

After breakfast, itll be the first stop New Grand Egyptian Museum, which is Egypts newest landmark, and its just two kilometres away from the pyramids. There, you can see more than 100,000 artefacts spread across 5,000 years, and they also show the entire Tutankhamun collection, presented all at once for the very first time. Then, later, you’ll head out for lunch at an authentic Egyptian restaurant.

Begin your day early, check out of your hotel, then start wandering toward the ancient city of Luxor. Before you set off on your dahabiya, you will stop first at the impressive Karnak Temple and also at the famous Valley of the Kings, which is considered the most well-known gathering of Pharaonic royalty’s very elaborate tombs.

After your visit around noon, you will go over to the West Bank so you can start your journey along the Nile by boarding your comfortable dahabiya, Nebyt Dahabiya. You will glide calmly toward Esna, while a tasty lunch is prepared right there on board. Then keep on sailing and have dinner, taking in the quiet, peaceful water of the Nile River all around you.

Cross the Esna Lock really early in the morning, like right when the day is still kind of quiet, as you sip your first breakfast on board your Dahabiya, surrounded by all those picturesque, a bit unreal views. Your first stop today is El Kab village and there you go to visit El Kab Temple. There you can discover the quiet hidden charm of those ancient temples, the old walls, and the rock cut tombs that date back to the New Kingdom period. Then later, on your way back, take a walk and sort of let it all sink in, the pretty village feels lived in, with mud-brick homes everywhere.

After that you start sailing again, this time going towards Edfu. During the sail, enjoy an appetizing lunch on board. Once you arrive, head out to see Edfu Temple, which is among the best preserved temples of the Greco Roman era, dedicated to Horus at Edfu, and you will also notice two gorgeous granite statues of the falcon god, Horus, standing tall and watching from over the entrance as you walk in.

Then enjoy a magnificent moment, when you take a horse drawn carriage ride back and forth to the temple, and you get to marvel at local life in Upper Egypt. You pass through that slow, rural rhythm of farmers and fishermen. When you return to your dahabiya, the sailing starts once more. At this point, let yourself be surrounded by lush, fertile landscapes, with banana and date palm trees scattered everywhere, almost like they were arranged on purpose.

Not long before sunset, we drop anchor near Sheikh Rehan Island, and there you’ll enjoy a hearty dinner in a calm, atmospheric setting.

Have a delicious breakfast aboard your very posh dahabiya as you sail to today’s stop, Gebel Silsela , kind of slow and dreamy. When you reach the old quarries at Silsela, pop over to the odd mystical rock-cute Temple of Hormoheb, then hike your way up Silsela Mountain for that seriously breathtaking skyline view. Afterward, go back to your dahabiya and enjoy a calm sail toward Fawaza Island around lunchtime. Grab some tea on the sun deck while you watch the sunset, then settle in for a tasty dinner on board.

Later on, toward the close of the day, enjoy a BBQ dinner right at the edge of Al Bashir Island, which is near Kom Ombo.

Have a nice, filling breakfast on board as you sail toward Kom Ombo. Then you kind of land along the shoreline, walk through Kom Ombo town with the locals for a bit, and only after that you reach the strange Kom Ombo temple with its two matching entrances , hypostyle halls and sanctuaries. Take time to explore the truly exceptional Haroeris temple, also known as Horus the Elder, plus Sobek the Crocodile God. This place was made with two neat symmetrical entrances, halls, and inner sanctuaries, and yes it is the only double temple of its kind across Egypt.  

When you finish, return to your dahabiya, and you’ll keep sailing through the day to the bright city of Aswan where you can look forward to a tasty lunch and then another delicious dinner on board.

Today will mark the last day of your grand journey on the Nile. Enjoy the last scrumptious breakfast onboard, then disembark, and get transferred to Aswan Airport. From there, catch your flight back to Cairo for your final departure via Cairo International Airport.
