You will spend two full days on guided stops. First, you will walk among the huge stone pillars at Karnak Temple. Next, you will see Luxor Temple lit up at night. After that, you will visit the Valley of the Kings and view the royal tombs. Then you will go to the terraced mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Last, you will meet the Colossi of Memnon, the tall statues that stand guard over the site.

Early start: hotel pickup
You will leave your hotel in Marsa Alam in a private, air-conditioned car. Then you head to Luxor.
Late morning: arrival and guide
When you reach Luxor, your private tour guide meets you. Your guide stays with you during the visits planned for the day.
Karnak Temple
First, you go to Karnak Temple. This is the biggest temple site ever created by people. It covers 247 acres.
You also learn what the place shows about builders from many eras. You can see three main temple areas. There are also smaller enclosed buildings and outer temple parts.
Luxor Temple
Next, you visit Luxor Temple. Much of it was built by Amenhotep III and Ramses II.
You hear how the temple links to the Opet Festival. It was a key setting for the festival. It also connects the ruler’s human side with their divine role.
Afternoon break: lunch
Have lunch at a local restaurant in Luxor.
Evening add-on: sound and light at Karnak
In the evening, you may choose a show at Karnak. The program starts with an introduction about the early days of Thebes. It also covers how Karnak was built.
Then you listen to a poetic story. It shares the deeds of major pharaohs. It also highlights the art and treasures inside the temple.
End of day: check-in
Return to your hotel in Luxor. Check in for an overnight stay. Recommended options include Nile Palace Luxor, Sonesta St. George, or Pyramisa Luxor.

Have breakfast at your hotel. After that, your own tour guide will meet you, and you will travel in a private air-conditioned vehicle to see the following.
Valley of the Kings.
This is the final resting place of Egypt’s rulers from the 18th to 20th dynasty. Tombs here include Ramses II and the boy pharaoh Tutankhamen.
The tombs were prepared with the kinds of goods a ruler would need in the next world. Much of the interior decoration is still in good shape.
Hatshepsut Temple.
This temple is known for its beauty and how well it has held up over time. It was built in three levels. Two wide ramps in the middle connect the levels.
Colossi of Memnon.
These are two large stone statues of King Amenhotep III. They are all that is left of a larger mortuary temple.
The statues were carved from quartzite sandstone blocks. Those blocks were in Cairo, then moved about 700 km to Luxor.
Lunch comes at a local restaurant in Luxor. Then you will drive back to Marsa Alam.
