High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk

You will visit the large rock-fill dam that sits on the Egypt and Sudan border. The Nile feeds it, and it helps create Lake Nasser. Work started in 1960 and finished in 1968. It was opened in 1971 under President Gamal Abdel Nasser. Many people call it Egypt’s “fourth pyramid.”
Unfinished Obelisk
Next, you will go to the ancient monument that never reached completion. It was planned to be the heaviest and tallest obelisk made in ancient Egypt.
