Next we will move to the Roman Theater referred to as the Roman Amphitheatre. The site dates to the 2nd century A.D. Unearthed during excavations in 1960 this well‑preserved Roman Theater features galleries, sections of flooring and marble seating for up to 800 spectators.
Then you will visit Alexandria Library. It was founded at the beginning of the century BC by Pharaoh Ptolemy I (Soter) one of the most famous rulers of the Ptolemaic period. His son, Ptolemy II Philadelphus extended it. In times its importance diminished and its collections were lost because of changes in power and successive invasions. Then you will visit Pompey’s Pillar, the remaining pillar from the Roman temple. It stands tall on a plateau amid the surrounding ruins of the Serapeum.
Continue to see the outside of Quaitbay Castle, built on the site as the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria one of the seven wonders of the world. It is a photo stop.
Next visit the Royal Jewelry Museum. Your Full‑day Alexandria Egypt sightseeing tour will conclude with a drive along the Mediterranean coast to the Montaza Gardens. These gardens feature 115 acres surrounded by walls on three sides and the sea. Within those walls you will see the exterior of Montazah Palace, built in 1932 by King Fouad and later inherited by his son King Farouk the last of the kings. As you drive through the gardens photo stops will be made along the way.
On your way stop over the famous Stanley Bridge, the landmark of modern Alexandria. Here you can have a walk before returning to the hotel.
