Our representative will pick you up from your place at Safaga port. You will travel by an air-conditioned vehicle to Luxor. There your private tour guide will begin your visits with the east side of Luxor.
First you will visit the Karnak Temple. This temple is the largest ancient religious complex in the world after Angkor Wat in Cambodia. It is also the most visited historical site in Egypt after the Pyramids of Giza. The Karnak Temple has four parts: the courtyard of Amun-Ra, the province of Mut, the province of Montu and the temple of Amenhotep IV.
Next you will see the Luxor Temple. Unlike ancient Egyptian temples that are built on an east-west axis the Luxor Temple is oriented toward Karnak. This is because the Luxor Temple was the location for one of the most important religious ceremonies in ancient Egypt. In this ceremony the statues of the gods Amun, his wife Mut and their son, the moon god Khonsu were carried in a procession from their temples at Karnak to the Luxor Temple.
On the side of Luxor you will visit Medinat Habu. Some believe that the name "Habu" comes from Amenhotep, son of Habu, the vizier of Amenhotep III. Others think the name comes from a priest who lived in this area later. This temple is one of the funerary temples built to honor kings during the New Kingdom.
Then you will explore the Valley of the Kings. This valley lies in a riverbed on the west bank of the ancient city of Thebes now known as modern Luxor. That is how it got its name, the Valley of the Kings.. The name is not completely accurate because not only kings were buried here. Some members of families as well as high-ranking non-royals were also buried here. The Valley of the Kings is split into two parts: the eastern valley and the western valley.
After that you will visit the Valley of the Queens. This was the place for queens in ancient Egypt. In times it was called "Ta-Sit-Nefru," which means "the place of the sons of the pharaoh" or "the place of beauty." In this valley queens from the 19th and 20th dynasties (from 1550 to 1070 BC) were buried. Many princes and princesses along with some members of the nobility were buried here too.
Finally you will see the Colossi of Memnon. These huge statues are located on the bank of Thebes now known as Luxor. Luxor is one of the important tourist attractions in Egypt. It is filled with monuments that show the ancient Egyptian civilization from thousands of years ago.
After your tour is complete you will be taken back to your place, at Safaga port.
