Itinerary

Day 1:
Tour to National Museum of Egyptian Civilization & Dahshour Pyramids from Alexandria port

You will start early from Alexandria Port. Then you will drive straight to Cairo in a clean air conditioned car.

First, we stop at Dahshour. It sits about five miles from Sakkara. At Dahshour, you can see three pyramids. They are the Red Pyramid, the North Pyramid, and the Bent Pyramid.

The story here links to Pharaoh Snefru. He is connected with two of the pyramids. Queen Hotep Heres is linked to the third one.

Next, you will enter the area for the Bent Pyramid. This pyramid has two main levels. It also has a smooth outer casing that looks striking. The shape is interesting because it seems like an early step toward the Step pyramid style. You can also spot the small pyramid made for the queen.

After that, you will visit either the Red Pyramid or the North Pyramid. This is considered the earliest full and known pyramid of its kind in ancient Egypt. From here, you will understand how royal tomb building changed during the Old Kingdom. If you wish, you can go into the narrow passage that leads to the chamber. Many people find it thrilling.

You will have lunch at a local place. After lunch, you will tour the Grand National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. The museum focuses on Egypt through time. You will look at major and wide collections of old things. There are displays that cover early periods as well as later times. The museum also has rooms for temporary shows, plus an area about modern Cairo.

At the end of the day, you will return to Alexandria Port.
